Spring
2008
Well done to all
of the girls who competed in the regional team championships.
Sara Jukes, Becky Kitchen, Chloe Allen, Emma Kempton and Tiska
Tjarks competed in the club senior level and were the very proud
winners of the bronze medal. Lizzie Ribbens, Kayley Allen,
Lucy Blunden and Laura Hollobon won the silver medal in the
Challenge level. It was a very long and very hot day but
all of the girls competed well and enjoyed competing as part of a
team.
Well done to
Becky Kitchen and Sara Jukes for their Spring Regional
Competition. Both girls performed well and managed to include
some new moves in their routines with Straight backs on floor, Becky
also competed her flick on beam and her half on half off vault for
the first time. They narrowly missed out on a medal finishing
4th and 5th.
Well done to Jaida Anderson and Jordana
Douglas who were competing in their first competition and looked
beautiful in their new club leotards. Jordana proved to us all
that she can have beautiful straight legs and pointed toes and Jaida
gave the rest of us a lesson in how to march in and stand out from
the crowd. Both girls performed really well sticking their
beam routines and showing off their floor routines. Sara
Jukes and Rebecca Kitchin both competed exceptionally well on
Sunday their grade 4 but unfortunately some falls on beam cost them
their chance of a medal. Al four girls passed their
grades.
Autumn
2007
Melissa is now the proud owner of a team silver medal for
Level 4 nationals, so very well done to her.
Laura Hollobon and Kayley Allen were 2nd in the twin piece
challenge level and very happy with their performance, Kayley doing
floor and vault and Laura bars and beam - that went well. Lucy
and Stephanie Blunden also competed with mixed results Steph having
travelled down from Leeds at short notice to take part. The
four girls are pictured below after the
competition
In the challenge cup Laura was half way in a very tough
competition that saw 15 qualify for the British Championships and if
she had stuck her floor which she usually does she would have
finished much higher but she was 9th on beam so was very
happy. Kayley was 14th out of 17 but came 8th on beam and 10th
on vault - Kayley had a very enjoyable day competing some new
routines which required clever improvisation on the day!

Spring
2007
Congratulations to Kayley Allen, Amy Dekkers, Lizzie
Ribbens and Laura Hollobon on winning gold and the title of LGF
Challenge Team Champions on 13th May 2007. A feather in the
caps of coaches Steve and Danni as the club continues to be a
presence in the region.

It was Lizzie's first comp on
bars in a very long time and she was especially nervous but made
everything. It was very hard for Amy who usually competes at
Club level to go up to Challenge but she rose to the task and well
done to Amy for getting up and doing her beam when she really didn't
want to - a great effort on behalf of the team - her performance
brought tears to her mum's eyes! A big thanks to all of the
supporters who loudly cheered them on making them the loudest
supported team!
Congratulations to Laura
Hollobon on winning her Grades with distinction in the LGF
competition and qualifying for National Finals in
Birmingham which took place Sunday April 29th 2007 and
where she finished 7th with a final score of 47.85 a
mere 0.1 short of a medal position and highest gymnast from London
which team finished 4th overall.
There was mixed
succes in the Regional competitions. Sara Jukes came
3rd in the novice 8/9 years and did really
well and Alex Kitchin was 4th in the under 12's, Chloe Allen and
Natiska Tjarks were less fortunate with falls which put their scores
down in the Club level 11 years but Amy Dekkers finished 5th in 14+
Club level despite falls on beam. Well done all of
you.
Congratulations
also to the other girls who passed their Grades - Emma Kempton and Sara
Jukes - Grade 5, Natiska Tjarks - Grade 4, Melissa Flint - Compulsory Level 4.
Melissa's result is remarkable given the few hours she trains each
week compared to the other participants.
Rebecca Kitchin's
performance in Compulsory's was hampered by a nose bleed and a few
errors but we're confident she will overcome this next time
out.
Well done Lizzie
Ribbens and Stephanie Blunden in the BUSA Championships at Lilleshal
which went really well apparently. There were approximately 90
individual competitors:
Lizzie (13th) - Vault - 11.40, Beam -
12.45, Floor - 13.80 Total 37.65 Stephanie (14th) -Vault 11.50,
Beam - 12.70, Floor - 13.40 Total 37.60
Stephanie came 3rd on
Beam individually, she had her scores counted for her University's A
Team (so in the top four of her university) and that team came
first overall!!

Autumn
2006
Well done to both
Kayley Allen and Laura Hollobon on their performances in the
Challenge Trophy held at Aldershot.
Congratulations
to Kayley Allen on her silver medal at the Regional Autumn
Individual Championships held at Heathrow.
Well done to
Laura Hollobon who without the unfortunate 5 mark deduction for a
short bars routine would have deservedly won her age
group.
Also well done to
Lucy Blunden who finished 8th in the competition against
Kayley.
Malta

Season
2005 - Grades
The competition
season for 2005 started on Sunday 13th March 2005 at Heathrow Gym
Club with National Grades. Kayley Allen represented the
club in Voluntary Grade 1 and despite a hand injury she
had picked up in training before the event managed to complete all
four pieces. She was at least able to perform her new Tsuki
vault for the first time in a competition.
Lucy
Blunden and Jessica Elsey both achieved a pass in Grade 3 with
Jessica just 0.30 short of earning a distinction and 0.40 short of a
medal position. Well done both girls.
Details of last
year's medal success are below.
Gold, Bronze and
Silver Medals for Christina Hewitt in Competitions 19th
& 28th November 2004
Christina had a
bumper year culminating in Bronze overall in the British Challenge
Cup at Camberley with Gold on Beam and Bronze on floor and Silver in
the Burrell shield the week before. Unfortunately she has been
diagnosed with a stress fracture in her back and will have to rest
for 4 months and miss the start of the 2005 competitions. She
is now starting her degree course at university and we wish her well
in her studies and a speedy recovery.
Silver Medal at LGF Twin Piece Club
Competition held at Heathrow 20th November 2004
Lucy Blunden and
Nadyne Lawrence pulled off a creditable silver at the final LGF
competition for the year. Laura Clarke and Michelle
Fredua-Mensah finished 5th in the seniors with Kayley Allen and
Jessica Elsey who should be in the juniors coming close
behind. Well done all of you. Unfortunately the comeback
of Lizzie Ribbens competing in the twin piece challenge with
Christina Hewitt had to be canceled due to Lizzie injuring her ankle
the Wednesday before.

Silver Medal at LGF Intermediate Club Competition
held at Heathrow 17th October 2004
Lucy Blunden at
last performed to the level we have long expected of her and
received a silver medal despite a fall on her second vault and 2
mishaps on beam. Well done Lucy who next season will move up
to Advanced Club level
Gold and
Silver Medals at Regional Competition held at Heathrow 26th
September 2004
Jessica Elsey
received her second gold award of the season and Christina Hewitt
had to be satisfied with Silver this time in her round. Well
done both of you. Kayley Allen was well below par in her
competition finishing 6th but we're sure she will bounce back
again.

Christina Hewitt
was in the London Team which gained Gold medal in the National
Finals of the Voluntary 1 competition held in Kettering on
Saturday 24th April - And, with only 3 gymnasts whose every score
had to count overall. Well done.
In the Novice
Competition on Sunday 18th April, Lilybeth Burki and Natiska Tjarks
were flying the club colours in what was their first "proper"
competition and they came out with creditable results
although not in medal positions. With less "extra beats"
on bars and "falls" on beam who knows where they might have
come. All good experience for a couple of 7 year
olds.
In the Club
Grades over the weekends of the 13th and 21st March 2004 at Heathrow
Gymnastics Club several of our girls were taking part and
we congratulate them all individually:
Voluntary competition Saturday 13th
March:
Christina Hewitt
came 3rd to win bronze medal but Stephanie Blunden had to
withdraw from the rest of the competition having injured her knee in
her floor rotation. Steph has now had an operation to repair
her cruciate ligament is making good progress and is back in the gym
doing light training but will be out of competitions for some
time. Both gymnasts have now (September 2005) left the
"comforts" of home behind starting their degree courses at
university and we wish them both success.
