The thing about gymnastics is the time and
energy it takes to perfect moves and the younger the better for
starting to work on the elements the girls need for higher tariff
moves in their routines. Here Danni puts one of
her former 7 year olds through her paces learning the "Giant"
move for asymmetric bars safely strapped on to the metal bar.
She protects her hands using gardening gloves of all things and
wrist straps. Later she will transfer the move to the higher
metal bar and then on to the usual carbon fibre bar without the
wrist strapping.
Timing and safety are
very important when performing the Yurchenko vault and here we see
one of the older girls going through one of the final preparation
stages of the vault.
The next stage would be
completing a landing into a foam pit and then on to floor
matting. The coach stands in to ensure a safe take off to the
vault table and the safety mats piled to break her fall to her back
with the somersault almost completed.
On the home
page you will see one of our senior gymnasts Christina
Hewitt in action practising her full twisting Tsukahara
vault.
